Met Office Issues Yellow Severe Weather Warning

The Met Office has issued a Yellow Severe Weather Warning affecting the region on Monday 24 September and Tuesday 25 September. The warnings are as follows:

Monday 24 September

Issued at: 1159 on Sat 22 Sep 2012

Valid from: 1800 on Sun 23 Sep 2012

Valid to: 0900 on Mon 24 Sep 2012

Periods of heavy rain, including some torrential downpours, are likely to occur across parts of Devon and Cornwall during Sunday evening and the first part of Monday. This will be in addition to the rain which will have fallen during the day on Sunday, such that the public should be prepared for an increased risk of both surface water and river flooding during this period.

Valid to:2359 on Tue 25 Sep 2012

Further rain or showers, heavy and persistent in places, are likely during Tuesday. The rain will be accompanied by gales and possibly severe gales for a time across Scotland and Northern Ireland in particular. The public should remain aware of the potential for further localised disruption due to heavy rain and/or the very strong winds.
