Rain, sleet and snow across Scotland will continue to spread southeast across northern England on Thursday. Icy surfaces could be a problem locally where rain fall on freezing surfaces today especially in the north and east. Some 2-5 cm of snow is likely to accumulate on ground above around 200-250m, with perhaps over 10 cm above around 350m. At lower levels in the east, rain is expected to be preceded by some sleet and snow. Here temporary accumulations of a cm or two are possible locally. Tonight, ice could well become widespread on untreated surfaces. More sleet snow is likely to occur in places, mainly above around 200m where a further few cm could accumulate.
The public should be aware of possible disruption to travel.
