A widespread frost will return on Friday evening and night leading to the risk of icy stretches developing on untreated surfaces.
The public is advised to take extra care.
Icy stretches are expected to form on untreated surfaces on Friday night, lasting into Saturday morning, especially across Northern Scotland and northeast England where there have been more frequent showers on Friday. During the early hours of Saturday outbreaks of mainly light rain will spread from the west to reach much of Scotland by dawn. The rain will be preceded by a little snow on high ground and could also fall onto sub-zero roads for a time, increasing the risk of ice. Conditions will turn milder during Saturday morning.
