An area of rain, with snow on high ground, will push north into Northern England and Southern Scotland in the early hours of Saturday morning, slowly moving north across Scotland during the day. On ground above 200-300m, 2-5cm is likely in many places and 10-15cm is possible in some areas, especially southern Scotland. Wet snow may well fall to low levels with the risk of accumulations of 3-6cm in places, mainly on grass surfaces. A cold night will follow, allowing ice to form on wet surfaces.
The public are advised to be aware of these wintry hazards, especially if driving on higher level roads.
