Ice is likely to form on untreated surfaces tonight, initially in the northeast of Scotland but the risk then extending southwards across the rest of the yellow area.
The public should be aware that icy surfaces are possible, especially on side roads and pavements, and should take care.
Chief Forecaster’s Assessment
Further showers are likely through Christmas Eve, wintry on hills and over higher roads, but most showers clearing southwards overnight. Widespread ice then developing on untreated surfaces as winds ease and colder conditions follow the showers. The icy conditions will be very slow to thaw on Christmas Day but only a few wintry showers are then expected, mostly near coasts.
