Fog is expected to become fairly widespread across much of northeast England and parts of the northeast Midlands, with the visibility falling below 100 metres in places and leading to difficult driving conditions.
The fog will thin and lift slowly during Monday morning.
Chief Forecaster’s Assessment
A ridge of high pressure across central areas of the UK will lead to clear skies and light winds overnight, a recipe like last night for areas of locally thick fog to develop, which will take until late morning on Monday to clear in some places.
