Fog is expected to become fairly widespread across much of northeast England and parts of the northeast Midlands again overnight and into Tuesday morning, with the visibility falling below 100 metres in places and leading to difficult driving conditions.
The fog will thin and lift slowly later in the morning.
Chief Forecaster’s Assessment
A ridge of high pressure across central areas of the UK will lead to light winds and clear spells overnight, a recipe like the last two nights for areas of locally thick fog to develop, which will take until late morning on Tuesday to clear in some places.
